Kayla + Justin’s Navy, Gray + Blush Wedding // The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth

Can I just say it?  I’m in love with Kayla + Justin’s wedding!  The delicate details, the beautiful flowers, Kayla’s incredible lace dress… I could just go on and on.  From getting ready to the reception, it was all held at The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth.  The weather called for a high of 28˚F!  It makes me cold just thinking about it.  But their whole wedding party was amazing- they smiled for pictures as if they were on a warm and sunny beach and didn’t complain once.

Here are the amazing vendors for their wedding day:

Location: The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth // Hair & Make-Up Artist: Julia West // Dresses: David’s Bridal // Catering: Southern Brides on a Budget // Cake: Devin Wilson // DJ & Lighting: Toe-Knee // Flowers: Personally Arranged // Photography: Fowler Studios // Invitations: Kristen RawlsGift giving was quite the roller coaster of emotions!  Kayla’s gift to Justin started out with some sweet sentimental items– a necklace she had fixed, a Bible that she wrote a sweet letter in… which his groomsman proclaimed, “Ah man!  She got you a book you’ve already read!”  On the right you can see Justin’s reaction!  We were all laughing pretty hard!  But then the mood quickly changed.  Justin opened up a letter and immediately broke down.  He later shared that Kayla had written the letter to his mom, who had passed away and was very dear to his heart.  It gives me chills just to think about it– she knew how much his mom meant to him, and I think it meant a lot to him that she included her on this day.

On to the first look!  So much sweetness!

Then they Face Timed some friends overseas who prayed over their wedding with them.  How precious!!  And below that, you might recognize a familiar face– Katie, one of our 2014 brides, who also got married at The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth!^Justin’s sister putting on his boutonniere, which holds a picture of their mom who passed. <3

And now for a few pictures of the gorgeous couple, in absolutely frigid weather! These next two pictures I just had to include!  Those were their “It’s freezing” faces!  We snuck outside during the reception for a few pictures during the golden hour of sunlight– definitely worth it!I couldn’t resist including all the silly shots we did with each bridesmaid!  It’s good to have the normal smiling faces, but it’s also fun to capture your silliness, too!
And it’s finally ceremony time.  Justin knew he’d tear up, and I’m so glad I was able to catch these precious moments!  For anyone who thinks a first look ruins the walking down the aisle moment, it couldn’t be farther from the truth! Both Kayla + Justin are heavily involved at Waters Edge Church and Pastor Stu Hodges officiated their wedding, which was really special!  During the ceremony, Stu asked them to take a moment, turn around, and say hello to all their guests and soak it all in.  Of course, Justin had to add in a little wave!We always try to be minimal in our distractions during the ceremony (and all day, really), so it’s always wonderful to be in a venue where we can be across the room and still move around to get a great shot like this!
